This mode is not recommended for office work but it can be useful if the remote device uses specialty software to map macros to specific keys. For example, the key "q" on a local QWERTY keyboard will transmit an "a" character if connected to a remote device with an AZERTY keyboard. With "Map 1:1", all keys are mapped from the local to the remote keyboard based on their position. In some specific cases, it may be necessary to manually choose the keyboard translation mode. In most cases, AnyDesk will choose the best mode for the user.

For example, a user in Poland using a Polish keyboard layout can connect to a machine in France using a French keyboard layout and work regardless of the different keyboard layouts. Most of the questions have answers, some accepted, so would not Roomba.Administrator Privileges and Elevation (UAC)ĪnyDesk for Linux / Raspberry Pi / FreeBSDįor international users connecting from one language zone to another, AnyDesk has a feature for translating the keyboard layout. Even SuperUser doesn't have an anydesk tag, at present.ĭoes it mean the same thing in all common contexts?Ĭonsidering all of the above, I suggest that the anydesk tag be burninated, and all associated questions be deleted/migrated as they are off-topic, with the possible exception of this question, which could just have the tag removed. If API-related questions arise, perhaps that would be a good time to create the tag again, but until then I don't think it is necessary. Questions about the general usage of the software are off-topic. Use this tag for specific programming questions about TeamViewer only.
ANYDESK REMOTE CONNECTIONS ARE GREYED OUT UPDATE
I did contemplate posting a tag-wiki update to explain what is and isn't on-topic, but looking at the similar tag teamviewer, it appears that having: I'd argue that it is not meaningful, and encourages off-topic posts.
ANYDESK REMOTE CONNECTIONS ARE GREYED OUT INSTALL
Unable to install of AnyDesk due to dependency errors in Ubuntu. They had no specific connection to AnyDesk.ĭoes the tag add any meaningful information to the post?Īs all of the questions are off-topic, for example: One, closed, programming question remains (and I removed the tag from another question) but they were both incorrectly (IMO) tagging anydesk as an example of the sort of program they didn't want to be able to access their app. The vast majority of the questions are General Computing questions which should be on SuperUser if anywhere.

Is the concept described even on-topic for the site?ĪnyDesk does have APIs, so it is possible that software development questions regarding this product could be asked, but the company has been around since 2014, and no on-topic questions have yet been asked under this tag. The questions do relate to the remote desktop product, AnyDesk. It has no description in the tag wiki.ĭoes it describe the contents of the questions to which it is applied? and is it unambiguous?

This tag has 10 questions, the first of which dates from July last year. I came across the anydesk tag on a question that was (incorrectly) in the Help and Improvement queue and it appears to be a candidate for burnination and deleting all of the tagged questions.
